Arsenal Transfers: 5 Reasons Loic Remy Isn't Worth £80,000
4. He Wouldn't Be The 5th Best Player
£80,000 per week would make Remy the fifth highest earning player at the club - or the sixth when the Khedira deal goes through - and quite simply, he wouldn't be the fifth best player. When you consider that the squad has 3 World Cup winners, a recently acquired Chilean World Cup star and a squad full of experienced Champions League players, Remy would probably not be an instant improvement in any position on the pitch. There is also no guarantee the Remy would slot into the Arsenal line up: he would likely play second fiddle to either Giroud/Sanchez up front or Theo/Cazolra/Podolski/Chamberlain/Ozil on the flank, and paying that much for a sub is ludicrous. Although having a decent amount of depth in the squad is important for maintaining a title challenge, there are other players who do the job as well as Remy for a lot less money.
I have been described as a sportsman with the brain of an athlete and the body of a scientist. Since it was established that playing wouldn't work out for me I have taken to writing.
