Arsenal Transfers Failure: 10 Deals Wenger Should Have Completed
3. Dimitar Berbatov
As Arsenal targeted a man to boost their strike force, Dimitar Berbatov grabbed their attention late on. The Bulgarian has a wealth of Premier League experience after his time at Tottenham, United and Fulham. He scores goals consistently and was exactly what Arsenal needed, surely this could only go one way? Well, it went the other way. The North London side turned down the chance to sign the forward and he moved to Monaco instead as cover for the injured Falcao. Arsenal cannot offer the lifestyle that the striker will enjoy at Monaco but they could offer a better league and Champions League football, but they offered nothing. Frankly it's bizarre. You need a striker and you're offered one of the best finishers in the division. It was literally handed to them on a plate, did Wenger think there was a catch? The catch now is that he's left with no one, which is likely to prove problematic in the coming months.
