Arsenal Transfers Failure: 10 Deals Wenger Should Have Completed

4. Alvaro Morata

The young Real Madrid striker was said to be top of Arsene Wenger's wish list after they lost Theo Walcott for the season- but even that wasn't enough to secure their prime target. Arsenal once again missed out even though rumours of Arsenals interest started way before the window opened. However, they prioritised Draxler and only made a move for Morata when that deal fell through. By this point it was too late and Morata stayed put in Spain, heaping more frustration on Arsenal. Even with the Draxler situation they could have negotiated a deal for Morata. It seems Arsenal haven't been warned about putting their eggs in one basket and they learnt their lesson the hard way. It's not like Arsenal couldn't have worked out away to work out both transfers as a few years back they secured Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesaker and Andre Santos all on deadline day.
