3. To Instill Belief
After being eliminated from both domestic cup competitions by lower league opposition, the confidence levels at the Emirates have plummeted both on the field and in the stands. The defeat by League Two outfit Bradford was an embarrassing one, no matter which way you spin it, while the loss to Blackburn was equally as damaging. However, if Arsenal beat a side who reached last season's Champions League final, they will be instilled with belief that they can go on and win it. Beating a former finalist usually does wonders for confidence levels which is precisely what this Arsenal team are crying out for at present. Bayern are also flying high in the Bundesliga and are the runaway leaders, having won all five of their last five games. Beating a team on top of their game would also send out a strong message to Arsenal's opposition.
