2. Stewart Downing
When Stewart Downing left Villa Park for Anfield in 2011, he did so on the back of a fairly decent season with Villa. He has just scored 8 times and provided 9 assists in 44 appearances before moving to Liverpool. There, his career has taken something of a nosedive. He has scored only five times in his two seasons at Anfield so far, and has been one of their most disappointing signings. Such is his disappointing spell at Anfield that the winger has been linked to a return to one of his former clubs - Middlesbrough. If we're getting nostalgic for a moment, then it isn't perhaps outside the realms of possibility that he could make a return to Aston Villa. Alongside Ashley Young, Downing was one of Villa's best players before his departure, and perhaps he could rediscover his form of old under Paul Lambert. Source(s):
