Best English Spurs XI Of The Premier League Era
9. Centre Back: Ledley King

Kings career was famously and sadly heavily tarnished by a chronic knee injury that meant he couldn't actually train at all in his later playing years. But this really only served to emphasise just how rare and great a talent he was, as he could still perform to excellent standards quite effortlessly when playing at the top level in spite of this fact. If King had remained fully fit for his entire career, he would undoubtedly have been Englands stand-out defender of the last twenty years.
He made 268 league appearances for Spurs, won the League Cup with the club in 2008 and was runner up in the same competition with them on two other occasions. He also led the club in to the Champions League in 2010 and represented England in Euro 2004 and the 2010 World Cup during his time at White Hart Lane, earning 21 caps - which should have been a much higher number - and scoring two international goals prior to his forced retirement.
