Sol Campbell is now so hated on the white side of North London that we almost chose to exclude him from this team in favour of someone else like Jonathan Woodgate or Gary Mabbutt, but the fact is that he was a brilliant central defender and that's just impossible to deny. Campbell joined Spurs in 1989 as a youth player and signed professional terms in 1992. He was at the club until 2001 before his notorious move to Spurs' bitter North London rivals Arsenal and he played in 255 league games for the club, scoring ten times, and an additional 60 times in other competitions. He entered the England set-up in 1996 and became a key defender for his country in his time at Spurs, representing the Three Lions at World Cup 1998 and Euro 2000. He went on to earn 73 England caps and scored once at international level. He is now contemptuously known as "Judas" amongst the Spurs fans but, again, there's no denying he was a brilliant centre back for the Lilywhites.
