Chelsea Transfers - 5 Reasons Benitez Must Sign David Villa

1. The Mood & Confidence Of Fernando Torres

Fernando Torres can either score you 14 goals before the New Year and look like getting you even more, or... He could completely under-perform, apparently fail to live up to the £50million price tag and managed just one goal a season ala 2010/11. He is very unpredictable and his mood can sometimes be as low and uninspired as his goal tally's. On 29th November this year, the Spaniard hadn't scored a single goal in almost 11 hours of football, but he put the brakes on that miserable statistic by scoring twice against Nordjaelland in the Champions League before going on a run which saw him bag another two in the Premier League against Sunderland, one more against Monterrey in the Club World Cup and another two - one each - against Leeds in the League Cup and against Aston Villa in the League. He seems to have rediscovered the form that prompted Roman Abramovic to shell out 50 of his Russian millions on the Spaniard, but that form could stop like the turning of a tap. Were Chelsea to sign David Villa, it would take some of the pressure off Torres as he would no longer be the chief breadwinner at Stamford Bridge. Added to that, having yet another Spanish speaking international in the side could really pick up Torres' mood and help him enjoy his football a little bit more. Only time will tell, but as I hope I have demonstrated, David Villa has an enormous role to play at Chelsea. What do you think? Should Chelsea sign David Villa?
