Much like his manager, the jury is still out on Joe Allen. He€™s young and arguably playing for a team that are much bigger than him. A lot of pressure rides on him, especially since he€™s Rodgers€™ most expensive signing since his arrival at Liverpool. The problem is regarding his flatness. He likes to pass sideways and obviously Rodgers€™ wants him there to keep the ball in midfield, however since the days of Xabi Alonso Liverpool fans have longed for a midfielder who isn€™t afraid to make long creative passes and is confident on the ball. All this will come for young Allen, he definitely has a lot of potential, but Rodgers seems adamant on playing him in virtually every game and it isn€™t doing him any favours in terms of popularity. I can see him in the next season or two becoming a big part of the growing Liverpool machine, but for now he isn€™t particularly helping Liverpool to success, especially after poor performances against Manchester United and Oldham.
