3. Mohamed Salah
Egyptian attacker Salah is a familiar foe to both Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur as the FC Basel man gave both London clubs problems in Europe this calendar year. The 21-year-old also boasts a prolific strike rate of 17 in 24 international matches for his country. Whilst the Swiss Super League is no barometer of quality, it is Salah's performances in the Europa League and Champions League which have reportedly attracted Rodgers's attention.
Reports in the Daily Mail last week said Spurs coach Andre Villas-Boas was quoted £15 million if he wants to bring this player to White Hart Lane. Liverpool's competition in wide areas is much less intense than that at Tottenham, however. Salah would have to oust the established Aaron Lennon and man of the moment Andros Townsend to get a starting spot at Spurs, not to mention hold off Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela and Gylfi Sigurdsson. Raheem Sterling is the only permanent option currently on the books at Anfield as Rodgers sold Stewart Downing and sent Oussama Assaidi on loan to Stoke City. Victor Moses has only joined the Reds on a similar basis from Chelsea. Again, provided there are tactical changes made to accommodate him, Salah could do Liverpool good service.
