Liverpool's 10 Greatest Premier League Victories

7. Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle - 1995/96

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwCDYc-r3iI In a recent Sky Sports poll asking people to vote for the greatest Premier League game in history, this unbelievable match came in at number one. Liverpool have had better wins, but in terms of entertainment and drama throughout, this tops the pile. Newcastle knew they had to win the game in order to keep in touch with United at the top, while Roy Evans knew his side needed all three points if they wanted to keep their faint title hopes alive. Robbie Fowler, unstoppable at the time, headed Liverpool into the lead after two just minutes, but Les Ferdinand equalised in front of the Kop eight minutes later. A fantastic individual goal by David Ginola shortly after put Kevin Keegan's side ahead, and that's how it remained until the break. Fowler scored his second of the game with a lethal finish, following great work from Steve McManaman, but Newcastle made it 3-2 when Faustino Asprilla found the net with the outside of his foot from range, after David James had horribly committed himself. Stan Collymore made it 3-3 midway through the second-hand, as a sensational game kept on giving. The final act was delivered by the enigmatic striker, who fired into the back of the Kop net in stoppage-time, following unselfish work from John Barnes. It was one of the loudest Anfield has ever been, and the image of Keegan draped over the advertising hoarding remains iconic to this day.
