Man Utd: 5 Potential Clubs For Nemanja Vidic To Join In The Summer

2. FC Porto

Nicolas Otamendi was close to joining Valencia on deadline day and will likely leave the club, Eliaquim Mangala is linked with a move to Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea amongst others, and if the pair go, they will need new recruits. If Porto can lure Vidic for the club, they will get a more than adequate replacement for either of the aforementioned pair at no cost at all. The question is, would Vidic consider a move to Portugal, or would he prefer to move to the likes of Italy, France, Germany or Spain? The signing would be a coup for boss Paulo Fonseca, though it is perhaps the least likely, in terms of Vidic's interest, in this article. Nonetheless, it makes a ton of sense - Porto will need defensive recruits desperately due to their wantaway talent, and Vidic is going to be a high profile, world class free agent. The main problem with this option is the wage demands of Vidic, which are reportedly £4 million per season, after tax. With the possible sales of Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi, Porto will have a significant amount of their wage bills and may be capable of pulling off a deal with the Serbian. They will, of course, need to bring in at least one more defender, but Vidic's experience and high profile name could be enough to lure in other high profile signings, and subsequently win them the Premeira Liga next season. With it all-but-established that money is Vidic's motive, it may take a significant amount to land the Serbian, and whether Fonseca is capable of persuading the board to provide such an amount is yet to be seen.
