Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why Shinji Kagawa Can Be David Moyes' Star Man

5. By Playing Consistently As The Playmaker

Kagawa has been tried in a variety of positions in his time at Old Trafford, but mainly in the playmaker role just behind the striker and on the left wing. First off, he is not a winger, he does not track back all too often and is only effective in the middle of the park. His ability lies fairly and squarely in the No.10 role, playing behind a fluid striker who likes to change it up a bit. At Borussia Dortmund, the Japan international thrived playing with Robert Lewandowski, a striker who not only scores goals but likes to drop off and bring his midfielders into play. In Wayne Rooney United have a similar striker, one who primarily is used as a playmaker thanks to his penchant for dropping deep and collecting the ball, but also one who can put the ball in the back of the net. Despite playing the No.10 place in the side on several occasions, Kagawa has not played there anywhere near enough times, either being pushed out onto the left wing or not being involved at all. The fact is he can play and be a creative force in the side if he's played in the right position and has the right players around him, it sounds obvious, but not obvious enough for Moyes apparently.
