Man Utd: Nemanja Vidic’s 5 Greatest Moments

1. Nearly Quitting Football To Fight In The Kosovo War

No one ever defied Sir Alex Ferguson and got away without a rollicking from the Scotsman. Nemanja Vidic though had the minerals to walk into Fergie's office and inform him that he would possibly be going to war for his country. Vidic was a natural leader on the field at Manchester United but he is fiercely patriotic. It was recently revealed in Sir Alex's autobiography 'My Autobiography' that Vidic felt it was his duty to fight for Serbia in the Kosovo war. In his Autobiography Fergie writes "Vidic was a dour, uncompromising sod. He was a proud Serb. In 2009, he came to see me to say he might be getting called up..." Ferguson continues "'What do you mean, called up?' I said, alarmed. 'Kosovo. I am going,' he said. 'It's my duty.' He had the eyes for it." There is no better way to sum up Nemanja Vidic's career than that quote from Manchester United's most successful manager. It's hard to imagine any other players doing something like that, but that is what makes Nemanja Vidic such a special player. Those are the 5 greatest moments we've picking out from Nemanja Vidic's glittering Manchester United career. What are your favourite memories of him? Let us know in the comments.
