Man Utd Transfers: 10 Talented Players Who Utterly Failed At Old Trafford
3. Bebe
Bebe was a monumental gamble from Sir Alex Ferguson, who had unbelievably never seen him play after he was recommended to him by his assistant Carlos Quieroz, and unfortunately it turned out to be a colossal mistake from the seasoned boss. The former homeless boy from Lisbon was signed just five weeks after signing for Vitoria, where he scored five goals in six games, and he's now one of the poorest footnotes on Ferguson's illustrious career. The £7.4million gamble which United had paid didn't pay off at all: Bebe trained with the first team and was even a part of the 25-man Champions League squad, making just two Premier League appearances in a United shirt and the over-riding feeling from all sides was that he was obviously well below the standard of a Manchester United player. It was too much too young for the Portuguese striker as his goalscoring touch seemed virtually non-existent. The former Vitoria player has been on loan to three other clubs since signing and actually showed a bit of promise whilst at Portuguese First Division club Pacos De Ferreira, scoring 14 goals. He has now been signed to Benfica, where he can only hope to rebuild is poor reputation caused by his failure to deal with the United pressure.
