1. Dong Fangzhuo
Although having agreed to join United a few years prior, Chinese forward Dong Fangzhuo was only eligible for Premier League registration in January 2007 due to work permit restrictions. He spent the time in between at Belgian side Royal Antwerp where he scored 34 goals over four years. The signing of playmaker Shinji Kagawa this season brought a few to suggest that he was brought in only for Asian shirt sales, a claim quickly denied by United. But it's not an entirely unfair accusation when this is widely thought to be the reason the club signed Dong. With no apparent talent or any at least any indication that he could make it at even League 1 level, it remains the only plausible explanation as to why he was kept on for two years whilst appearing just once - against Chelsea after the title had already been wrapped up. Since moving back to China it has become more clear that this lad doesn't have much in his locker and, although he would have been brought in on the cheap and possibly made the club a little money, any Man Utd fan who has seen him play could argue that he is one of the worst ever players to pull on the red shirt. http://youtu.be/3sz_HwxATxQ
