Best Ever January Transfer Deals

5. Henrik Larsson

Henrik Larsson The legendary Swede who made a name for himself in Scottish football for Celtic completed a surprise loan-move to United in the 2006/07 season. He had moved to former club Helsingborg after a spell at Barcelona, but with the Swedish season drawing to a close he was able to spend three months at Old Trafford. Despite being a short spell it was a relatively successful one for both the club and the player. Larsson scored on his debut against Aston Villa in the FA Cup, in the Premier League against Watford and a Champions League knock-out game versus Lille. The Premier League were also gracious enough to award Henrik with a winners medal as United took the league title, despite not having played the required number of games. It was difficult for the club to let him go in March as part of the arrangement, such was the impact he had both on and off the pitch. Sir Alex praised his attitude and tried his best to extend the deal but, unfortunately, it would be a short but sweet period.
