Man Utd Transfers: 5 Best & 5 Worst Ever January Deals

2. Manucho

Manucho Similar to Mame Biram Diouf, Manucho was a little known striker plucked out of obscurity on the cheap - loaned out to a lower-level Premier League club before being offloaded abroad. The Angolan was signed after a trial period with the club and, with a few impressive performances, and a wonder goal, at the African Cup of Nations in 2008 it looked like this might actually turn out to be a good deal. But the best thing about his time at United is the assist he provided to another emerging young striker, Danny Welbeck, who scored a sensational goal to complete a 4-0 victory over Stoke. He managed to score twice whilst on loan at Hull and his international record remains good, but he didn't find the back of the net once for United and was sold to Spanish side Valladolid in 2009.
