Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels is another option at centre back however, and the 24-year old German has enjoyed an impressive season in Jurgen Klopp's side. His defensive performances this term have helped marshal the Bundesliga outfit to the final of this season's Champions League and he has been
eyed up by United recently, along with Manchester City and Barcelona. Considered one of the best centre halves in Europe, Hummels would fit into United's set-up seamlessly with the Reds known to invest in young talent and then mould them into world class players. Though United do have numerous young fledglings coming through the ranks in Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, there is a feeling that they need one more world-class centre-back and one of either Garay or Hummels would go a long way to shoring up the back 4.
