Man Utd Transfers: 5 Players That Should Never Have Been Sold

3. Wes Brown

You might be thinking am I crazy, and perhaps you're right, but Wes Brown has been a revelation for Sunderland since his return from injury and if it wasn't for him (and a couple of others returning since the departure of Paolo Di Canio) Sunderland might already have had the capital R next to their name in the league table. Brown amazingly holds the title of the most successful Englishman in the Premier League, where he has won two Champions League winners medals, five Premier League winners medals, two FA Cup winners medals and three League Cup winners medals. He will be looking to add to that tally with another in the Capital One Cup final in March. His influence in the team has been a pivotal part of an improved Sunderland under new head coach Gus Poyet and he has proven that he is still fit, despite being 34 years old. Some could argue that despite Sir Alex thinking he was "past it" when he left Old Trafford with John O'Shea in 2011, he is a much better player this season that a certain Rio Ferdinand, who is only a year older that Brown.
