Man Utd Transfers: Tracking The 5 Latest Summer Rumours

3. United To Re-Sign Cristiano Ronaldo?

Cristiano_Ronaldo7 Four years after first selling him to Real Madrid for what remains a world-record transfer fee of £80 million, United have been linked with re-signing the Portuguese superstar. In what would be the biggest moves of the summer, the classy No.7, widely considered the second best football player on the planet, could be about to make a return to Old Trafford, where he scored 118 goals in 292 appearances. Or could he? The most recent reports on this issue, such as last Friday's copy of the Express, claim the forward is about to snub United to stay at the Bernabeu. One of the main things fuelling the Ronaldo rumours recently has been the fact he has yet to sign a new contract in the Spanish capital - but his manager Carlo Ancelotti is confident that the star will stay. Ronaldo himself has publicly stated that he is happy at Real and that his contract situation is not an issue, while it would take a sizable stack of cash on United's part to persuade Real into doing business. The sort of money that, realistically speaking, the champions simply don't have to spend.
