Man Utd Transfers: Tracking The 5 Latest Summer Rumours

2. Marouane Fellaini & Leighton Baines From Everton?

fellaini Ever since David Moyes was appointed Sir Alex Ferguson's successor at Old Trafford, Manchester United have been linked with a double-swoop on his former club Everton. Back in June, United had a £12 million bid for Toffee's left-back Leighton Baines rejected and today, the champions went back in for Baines and his midfield teammate Marouane Fellaini in a combined £28 million deal. That bid was "flatly rejected" by Everton, perhaps unsurprisingly given the fact this is as blatant an example of "lowballing" a club in a transfer negotiation as you're ever likely to see. Fellaini, for a start, was worth at least £23.5 million up until last month and that valuation is hardly likely to have depreciated following the expiration of his release clause at the end of July, while United failed to improve upon their original £12 million offer for Baines. Perhaps if United came back in with a combined offer of, say, £40 million, Everton might be more inclined to do business.
