Newcastle Premier League Managers Ranked By Win Percentage

4. Graeme Souness - 44.82%

Newcastle United Manager: September 13th 2004-February 2nd 2006 Games In Charge: 87 Won: 39 Drew: 19 Lost: 29 Win Percentage: 44.82% Reason For Leaving: Sacked The manager nobody wanted. Sir Bobby Robson had just been unceremoniously sacked and chairman Freddy Shepherd went to Blackburn Rovers to pluck out a manager who the Lancashire club were just two weeks away from sacking. Souness' overall win ratio was decent at 44.82% - but that includes his wins in the UEFA Cup that significantly bolstered the victory percentage. A return of 39 wins from 87 games in charge in little more than a year-and-a-half is not terrible, but the football Newcastle played during that time was dire. Magpies supporters were glad to see Souness go when he was sacked in February 2006.
