Premier League: 10 Worst Managers Of All Time

2. Steve Wigley - Southampton

St Marys Another short lived tenure makes it in to this list with Steve Wigley the culprit. He replaced Paul Sturrock as Southampton manager in August 2004 as he was promoted from the coaching staff to be the boss. Fans of the club had grave concerns as Wigley had only ever managed non-league Aldershot and he seemed to lack the experience to lead the club on in the Premier League. These supporters were proven correct as by December 8th, Wigley had managed just one win in 14 matches and was relieved of his duties. Wigley€™s short stay was a disaster for The Saints€™ as they finished the season bottom of the league and saw themselves relegated. Following this The Saints were relegated further to League 1 and did not return to the top flight until this season. Wigley€™s reign was the beginning of the end for Southampton and it was impossible for them to recover that season from his poor spell. Southampton had been in the top flight for twenty seven years and even bringing in Harry Redknapp to save them wasn€™t enough to prevent the drop.
