3. Avram Grant - West Ham
Avram Grant is one of very few people to be relegated two seasons running: for a player its a disaster, for a manager its a living nightmare. Grants first relegation was with Portsmouth in the 09/10 season but the Israeli can hardly be blamed for that, the club were deducted 9 points and were in financial turmoil, but at the end of that season he signed a deal to manage West Ham and this was unmitigated disaster. West Ham fans were hopeful of a strong season with a squad consisting of players such as Scott Parker, Mark Noble and Carlton Cole, but The Hammers had a torrid time and didnt pick up a point till mid September, part of West Hams worst ever start to a league season. The pressure continued to mount on Grant and West Ham were rock bottom at the end of November with just two wins. A good spell over Christmas brought some relief to Grants position but the New Year brought more bad results as West Ham were thrashed 5-0 by Newcastle. Grants luck somehow carried on till the second to last match of the season when West Ham lost to relegation rivals Wigan and were finally relegated - the manager was sacked the same day. Grant came in to his tenure at West Ham with a club full of hope for the future but he managed just 7 league wins and saw the club relegated. It took the magic of Big Sam to get West Ham back up and for the club to recover from the disastrous Grant reign.
