Premier League: 5 Worst Transfers of 2012

2. Fabio Borini (Liverpool, £12 million*)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdh6BwYmBWs I know it was only his debut, but it's still funny how badly he played. Having left Chelsea as a youngster without really leaving his mark, Borini was threatened with fading into obscurity. Unfortunately, this hasn't happened, and somehow 9 goals in 20 league games in Serie A for Roma last season has merited a transfer fee six times bigger than for Swansea's Michu, who has scored 6 goals in the league already. Go figure. Borini hasn't scored in the league, yet, producing 0 goals, from 9 shots, in 5 games. His versatility means he can be equally useless on the wings as well as in a central position up front. While he does have youth on his side, he does have a general lack of quality against him, and a broken leg for the next couple of months won't help the situation. He does still have youth on his side though, so we can at least be disappointed for another 10 - 15 years. Rating: 2/10 Might play better with a broken leg. *Transfer fee courtesy of The Mirror
