Premier League: 6 Summer Signings That Are Failing

3. Erik Lamela - Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela was signed for a deal worth £25 million this summer, and has been one of a few underwhelming introductions to the Premier League so far. The 21-year old enjoyed a fantastic season of personal note with Serie A side AS Roma - scoring 15 goals in 33 games. But he's so far yet to come close to repeating such a feat for Spurs this campaign. While the season is still in its early stages, Tottenham manager Andres Villas-Boas will be hoping Lamela can start to pick up his form and pay back his large transfer fee. He's only featured from the bench for the London outfit as Andros Townsend's form has been considerably better than the Argentine's. However, Lamela will need to prove his worth with the brief cameos he's given if he is to oust the in-form Townsend from his favoured position this season.
