Ranking Liverpool's 10 Worst Players Of The Season So Far

2. Simon Mignolet

Lynne Cameron/EMPICS Sport Have Liverpool ever had a worse goalkeeper in the Premier League era? Mignolet has been a disaster area since signing from Sunderland in the summer of 2013- his poor displays in 2013/14 were masked because of the attacking brilliance of Suarez, Sturridge and the rest- and he has been especially dreadful this season. The Belgian is playing with no confidence whatsoever, and the fact he has just been dropped in favour of the abysmal Brad Jones sums up his ineptitude. His kicking is terrible, every time he has the ball at his feet you feel a mistake is coming, he is unconvincing from crosses and his all-round decision-making is just not good enough. His shot-stopping is the only aspect of his game that is fine, but then shouldn't all Premier League goalkeepers be good at stopping shots? The 26-year-old is probably the player who has had the most negative impact on the Liverpool side this season. He is giving his defence no confidence at all, and it is rubbing off on the more attack-minded players too. A new goalkeeper simply has to be bought in in January if Rodgers' side are to have any chance of enjoying a good second-half to the season.
