Ranking Liverpool's 10 Worst Players Of The Season So Far

1. Dejan Lovren

Richard Sellers/PA Archive/Press Association Images Despite the numerous poor performers for Liverpool this season, Lovren simply had to top the list. He was bought in as the man to make the Reds' back-line solid again, having impressed hugely for Southampton last season, but he has actually made them even worse at the back. The 25-year-old has to be the biggest transfer flop of the season so far, and in hindsight it seems staggering that Liverpool paid £20m for his services. Everything about his game has been shocking, whether it be his atrocious use of the ball- he and Mignolet passing the ball to one another is enough to give any Reds fanatic heart failure- erratic reading of the game or lack of pace. The hope is that the former Lyon man may just be having a really tough time of things, struggling to adapt at a huge club, but the early signs are extremely worrying. At the moment it looks as though he will go down as one of the most disastrous signings in Liverpool's recent history. Quite how the Croatian can go from being so good last season to so inept in 2014/15 is baffling- the fact he had two holding midfielders in front of him at Southampton may have masked some of his flaws- but if he doesn't get his act together in the next few months, he will be deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield. There have been too many errors to remember from him, and he has made more mistakes leading directly to goals than any other player in the Premier League this season. He has been abysmal.
