Ranking Liverpool's 10 Worst Players Of The Season So Far

9. Steven Gerrard

Gerrard's demise and future have been two of the biggest talking points this season, and although he still remains an influential figure on his day, his performances have been lacking in general. Having thrived so much in a deep-lying midfield role last season, he has been found out a little by opponents, and his positional sense and decreasing pace have been exposed to the point where he is now being used as an attacking midfielder instead. Although the 34-year-old has still produced some moments of magic, most notably the brilliant free-kicks against Everton and Basel, he doesn't seem to have fully recovered from the slip that played such a pivotal role in last season's Premier League title race. His passing has been a little off, his set-piece deliveries haven't been as deadly and he has often cut a frustrated figure. Gerrard is arguably the greatest player in Liverpool's history, but his days at Anfield are slowly coming to an end. He needs to be used more sparingly by Rodgers, and that's if the skipper stays. There is a lingering feeling that a move elsewhere for one last hurrah could appeal, with the MLS rumoured to be the most likely destination.
