Ranking Liverpool's 10 Worst Players Of The Season So Far

8. Joe Allen

Peter Byrne/PA Wire/Press Association Images There probably isn't a Liverpool player who divides opinion more than Allen. Some feel he is an understated presence in the midfield, who uses the ball well and presses effectively, while others think he is a fraud who has little impact on any game the Reds play. So far this season it's fair to say he most certainly falls into the latter category. The 24-year-old Wales international has not been strong in any aspect of his game, and his form has been particularly poor in the last few weeks. His passing has been both wayward and lacking impetus, physically he has been extremely weak and he has offered no goal threat whatsoever. He has been hugely unnoticeable. The Welshman seems to be one of Rodgers' favourites- the Northern Irishman once embarrassingly described Allen as the "Welsh Xavi"- despite doing little to justify such favouritism. Allen has been a Liverpool player for over two years now, and there has been no improvement in his game at all. If anything, he has got worse. He has to start delivering on a regular basis if he wants a long-term future at the club.
