9. Andrey Arshavin

Stephen Pond/EMPICS SportStephen Pond/EMPICS SportDespite the fact that he actually ended up signing for their bitter North London rivals Arsenal, Russian star Andrey Arshavin revealed that he actually would have liked to move to Spurs in 2009. Both clubs discussed a potential transfer with the player, following on from his impressive performances for his country at Euro 2008, in the January 2009 transfer window, and Arshavin apparently had a private discussion in broken English with the then-Spurs manager Juande Ramos. About the discussion and potential transfer, Arshavin said "I was not against a move to Tottenham. If it was down to just me to reach an agreement, the move could have taken place." He didn't really settle in England and, after being sent back on loan to his former club Zenit Saint Petersburg in 2012, he moved back there permanently in 2013, where he still plays today.
