Spurs: 10 Players You Didn't Know Tottenham Almost Signed

8. Charlie Adam

Charlie Adam's apparent vendetta against Spurs (he has injured Gareth Bale twice and Paulinho once in three recent meetings with the club - which, for the record, severely angered Lilywhites midfielder Sandro) could be explained by the fact that, in January of 2011, a potential move to the club from Blackpool fell through, prior to him signing for Liverpool six months later. Of the failed transfer, the then-Spurs manager Harry Redknapp said "Adam would have been a good player for us if we could have got him, but it was a bit late", conveying that the problem was - in typical Spurs and Daniel Levy fashion - that Spurs had probably tried to delay the transfer until the last minute in order to force a cheap sale. Adam was on Spurs' radar for some time, but what makes the potential transfer more surprising - and what might make some people forget that it was ever on the cards - is the aforementioned fact that there is absolutely no love lost between the two parties and Adam might want to watch his heels next time he comes up against his former potential employers whilst playing for his current club Stoke City.
