Spurs 3-0 Tromso: 5 Things We Learned

3. Not Signing A Left Back Was A Mistake

Danny Rose I said that Spurs would regret not signing another left back and it seems it's already the case. Danny Rose limped off after 39 minutes and was replaced by Jan Vertonghen. The full back is expected to miss this weekend's match against Cardiff City and Spurs don't have a natural senior left back to replace him. Zeke Fryers is still very raw, so it will likely be down to Jan Vertonghen (a centre back), Vlad Chiriches (a centre back) or Kyle Naughton (a right back) to act as cover in the Premier League. Spurs let Benoit Assou-Ekotto join Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers on loan at the end of the transfer window and failed to sign the likes of Fabio Coentrao or Alberto de la Bella, both of whom they had been linked with, and they should certainly be looking back at those events with regret now.
