Spurs Transfers: The Pros And Cons Of Signing David Villa

The Fee

2david villa2 The fee being touted for David Villa isn't exactly extortionate in modern footballing terms. Anything from £10m to £12m has been mentioned in the media. The questionable thing about the fee is that there's an argument that it could be better spent on a longer term solution. Regardless of how the fee compares to other more expensive options, it's still millions of pounds and Villa would obviously command massive wages in addition to that - Spurs would have to break (and indeed smash) their wage structure to sign him. Questions have to be asked about whether or not the positive short term contribution of David Villa will outweigh the negative loss of £10m-£12m plus a massive weekly wage.
