Tottenham vs Arsenal: 5 Greatest Ever North London Derby Matches

2. Spurs 1 Arsenal 2 €“ League Cup Semi Final Replay 1987

Clive Allen Now back to Arsenal victories. This game had so much to remember it by. In fact all 3 games in that legendary League Cup semi final tie were memorable for different reasons. Firstly there was the fact that there were 3 games; the aggregate scores after the first 2 legs were level thus forcing a 3rd game decider. At the end of the 2nd leg, Tottenham won the toss of the coin and as a result the replay was held at White Hart Lane. Secondly, Clive Allen scored for Spurs in each game and yet eventually found himself on the losing side. Thirdly, and with Spurs leading during the 2nd half of the 3rd game, there was a tannoy announcement for the home Spurs fans advising them on how to get tickets for the final at Wembley which seemed to stir Arsenal towards their final and decisive winning comeback. And fourthly, and most poignantly, the winning Arsenal goal was scored by David Rocastle, a true North Bank hero and idol, and who eventually died so tragically young at the age of 33. http://youtu.be/nzb-rRdut3U
