Who Is In The North East's Worst Team Of The Season?
8. Ryan Taylor
How bad must Mehdi Abeid be if this man is getting picked ahead of him. The answer to that is not very, it's just John Carver couldn't pick the right team if his life depended on it. It's a horrible thing to say considering all he has been through over the last three years but if Ryan Taylor was a race horse he would have been put out of his misery by now. He's been that bad. Taylor should never be considered anything more than a utility man at best that fits in a number of positions when needed. He wasn't good enough before his injuries to justify a starting place in the centre of The Magpies' midfield so he can't be anywhere near good enough now. Why can't JC see this? He's constantly four or five yards off the pace, offers quite literally nothing than the more able bodied Abeid or Vurnon Anita can't and his 'wand-like' right boot is nothing more than a myth these days. He's the obvious sentimental pick of Carver who knows how much Raylor is revered in the terraces at St James' Park after his goal at Sunderland nearly four years ago. But Newcastle have been in a relegation fight for a couple of months now and there is no room for sentiment in football. Especially when your Premier League status is on the line.
