20 Things You Somehow Missed In Andor
2. Andor Is The Only Live-Action Star Wars Show That Did Not Heavily Rely On The Volume
One recurring behind the scenes feature of Star Wars' time on streaming has been its use of the Volume Technology (formally known as Stagecraft) in the series' production. This is especially notable in The Mandalorian, where the first season popularised the use of the technology in filmmaking.
Since then it has become a mainstay of productions such as Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and while the technology has its perks, it is still some ways off from balancing effectiveness and convenience.
In a feature from Empire, Tony Gilroy pointed out that Andor's more grounded story did not quite lend itself to the Volume, and the tangibility of existing locations and massive sets complimented the series' tone.
The practical approach was well-received by the cast, who appreciated the impact of its physicality on their work during filming.
