20 Things You Somehow Missed In Andor

One of the best characters from Rogue One was the sardonic yet loyal droid K-2SO. The repurposed Imperial automaton had more personality and presence than even his human colleagues, and this was in no small part due to Alan Tudyk's wonderful performance-capture work.

His presence in the prequel was so highly regarded that the creative team behind Andor intended to bring him back in a buddy cop-style series alongside the titular would-be Rebel. This was one of the initial plans as highlighted by showrunner Tony Gilroy in an interview with Deadline, where he mentioned that Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy sent him a draft with the pairing as its narrative focus.

He compared their dynamic to that of Butch and Sundance in the 1969 classic but also felt that the story was too contained because of it. Eventually, he took on more scripting/development responsibilities and that eventually led to the series we got in 2022.
