9 More Star Wars Subplots That Went Literally Nowhere
3. The Canto Bight Arms Dealers
The Last Jedi's Canto Bight sequence may be relatively divisive even with those who loved the movie, but it did at least slyly introduce one interesting subplot with a ton of fertile future potential.
Hacker DJ (Benicio del Toro) reveals to Finn (John Boyega) that there are arms dealers on Canto Bight who sell weapons to both the bad guys and good guys, allowing them to profit immensely from the ongoing conflict.
It's certainly not an outrageous revelation but it is nevertheless an interesting one, that beneath the broader strokes of the Resistance vs. the First Order, there's an underclass of morally bankrupt hustlers making money hand over fist no matter the outcome.
It's a fascinating enough idea to absolutely merit further explanation in future Star Wars media, whether a new movie or, more likely, a peripheral TV show, video game, comic, or book.
Given the polarising response to The Last Jedi as a whole, though, Disney might be a little tetchy about returning to any of its ideas in short order.
