10 Star Trek Toys That Sucked

Credit where credit is due, at least this ray gun actually has the same colour scheme as the original Enterprise. That, apart from the Star Trek words emblazoned on its side, is about where it ends.

Let's break this one down. Another case of sticking the words 'Star Trek' on a toy to get higher sales, this ray gun has, quite frankly, absolutely nothing to do with the property. Lily Sloane may famously call Picard's phaser her very first ray gun in Star Trek: First Contact, but apparently there were people in the audience who'd been firing these official babies since 1968.

It may be a bit cynical to hoist the property's name on an old toy, but the marketing gods have been right in the past, why not this time as well?

Put it this way - had you ever actually heard of this particular item before? This writer hadn't, so, maybe this time the marketing gods were less divine, and more earthly.
