Nicholas Coster appeared in The Next Generation as Admiral Haftel, the less-than-likable man who came to take Data's daughter away in The Offspring. While his character received a minute redemption by the episode's close, Coster was already deep into a long and varied career at that point - having also appeared as a kidnapper on All My Children.

Coster's career spanned from the 1950s' to the 2020's and it wasn't limited to television. He appeared in film, and also published a memoir toward the end of his life. He was married to Candace Hilligoss until 1981, with whom he had two children.

Coster was also a trained scuba diving instructor, helping to maintain a school that catered to those with disabilities. He passed away in June 2023, at age 89.
