Star Trek: 10 Secrets About The USS Dauntless You Need To Know

A strange omission from the Master Systems Display (MSD) on Janeway's USS Dauntless is sickbay.

So while the crew can find themselves in another land via the holodeck there's probably a provision not to come down with Rigellian Fever anytime soon!

The MSD also reveals that the Dauntless is eight decks deep with the bridge embedded into the curve of the ship just as with the Voyager version from Hope and Fear. It also shows it's carrying one Type-9 shuttle which is the same as those aboard Voyager in such episodes as Basics and Dark Frontier. Eagle-eyed fans have since spotted a lecture theatre on the MSD and the ships toilets as well as that huge four deck computer core.

What Aaron Waltke has noted is that this omission from the MSD will be dipped into via the upcoming David Mack novel, Firewall which is set to feature the Dauntless as part of its story.

However, because of the critical damage that the USS Dauntless received in the Supernova finale of Prodigy's first season Aaron Waltke has confirmed that it won't be back for season two because "Reconstruction takes time!". That's the reason for the introduction of the USS Voyager-A as seen in the teaser preview earlier in 2023.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
