10 Abandoned Game Of Thrones Plot Threads We Really Miss
9. The Brotherhood Without Banners
One of the most memorable parts of Season 3 was when Arya ran into a group known as the Brotherhood Without Banners. This group of anti-Lannister outlaws is lead by Beric Dondarrion and Thoros of Myr, a red priest. When we last saw them, there was a pretty memorable sequence where Beric fought Sandor Clegane during a trial by combat, ending in Beric’s death.
And then he came back to life. Thoros calls upon the power of the Lord of Light, and he’s able to raise Beric Dondarrion from the dead. Beric tells Arya that he has been brought back to life several times, but each time he loses a bit more of himself. Then when Arya leaves, they're just dropped entirely.
Beric Dondarrion is basically the Westeros equivalent of Jesus Christ, and the show just kind of forgot about him. The fact that there is this group of outlaws opposing the Lannisters that's backed by actual, real magic and a man who can come back from the dead seems pretty important, huh?
In the books, the Brotherhood and Beric Dondarrion do come back in a pretty significant way, but the plot point they come back for appears to have been cut from the show. But that doesn't mean they're not coming back in future.
