Rose Leslie has been getting a fair amount of buzz after the Jenna-Louise Coleman departure was announced, and a lot of bookies have her listed as the front runner to take on the role of the new companion. She certainly has the resume for it -- after well-received performances on Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones, she's now finding herself with a good amount of experience on hit shows and an empty plate. Whatever her next project is, it's going to have to be something big, and Doctor Who seems like it would be a good fit. She's a strong actress, with a mischievous streak and a sort of devil may care attitude. It might be a fun change to have a companion who maybe isn't so impressed by the Doctor's showing off, or one who is less interested in tagging along behind him and more like to branch off and have her own adventures. The only issue is that after Amy Pond, it might feel a bit too soon to have another Scottish redhead on the show. Not that we want them to rotate through the regions or anything, but if they cast Rose Leslie we might start hearing complaints that she's too much like Amy.
