10 Actors Who Should Be The Next Doctor Who Companion

2. Antonia Thomas

Antonia Thomas feels like the type of actress that Steven Moffat gravitates towards in terms of companions. She can certainly play the spunky, sexually liberated heroine that he tends to enjoy writing for. But she's also a classically trained actress who can bring a tremendous amount of vulnerability to the roles that she plays. She seems fun and casual, but there's a sense of mystery about her that draws audiences in deeper. Thomas is best know for her work as Alisha in the critically acclaimed E4 drama Misfits, and her departure was pretty much the death knell for the show. She's got a bit of a following from that show, but she isn't so famous that people would have a hard time accepting her as a new character. Thomas feels like the type who would be extremely empathetic to the people that she encounters, despite what she might seem like at first glance. After a string of companions that were all arc-heavy mysteries that needed to be solved, incredibly important people in the grand scheme of things, Antonia Thomas could be a throwback to the type of companion who was just an ordinary girl who found herself able to rise to the occasion and discover what she was really capable of while travelling with the Doctor.
