10 Actors Who Became Cult Heroes From 1 TV Role

9. Kyle McLaghlan - Twin Peaks

Kyle McLaghlanThe Role That Made Him A Cult Hero: Playing wacky, yet charming, Special Agent Dale Cooper in Twin Peaks. Fan-Favourite Quote: 'Excuse me, but this is a DAMN FINE cup of coffee' Kyle McLaghlan had some acting success primarily working with David Lynch in the 80's, in films Dune and Blue Velvet, but it wasn't until he took the lead in Lynch's television hit, Twin Peaks, that he became something truly special. Twin Peaks was unlike anything that came before it, and McLaghlan's performance was absolutely perfect for the part of Special Agent Dale Cooper. Kyle had just the right amount of energy and the right amount of charm to play Lynch and Frost's inspired creation. Perhaps it was his looks, although not strictly traditionally good-looking, that made him such a hit. Or maybe it was the fact that while most leading males on television at the time were more macho and downright normal, McLaghlan's character was something weird and wacky. Charming in his own right, no doubt, but he wasn't quite like anything else on tv at the time, and so those of us more attracted to the weird side of the world felt more compelled by McLaghlan's Special Agent. Since Twin Peaks, Kyle has gone on to appear in buckets of stuff; from cult classic Showgirls to mainstream television hits like Desperate Housewives and How I Met Your Mother. His devoted fanbase keeping up with him, no doubt.
