10 Actors Who Became Cult Heroes From 1 TV Role

7. Misha Collins - Supernatural

MishaThe Role That Made Him A Cult Hero: Playing the angel-turned God, Castiel in Supernatural. Fan-Favourite Quote: 'I€™m the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition.' Misha Collins was pretty much a no-name actor prior to starring on Supernatural. He had done dozens of TV roles, but mostly guest appearances. An episode here or there on 24 or Charmed or NCIS. It must've felt like a dream come true when he bagged himself a starring role as Castiel, the angel (Then God, himself) on Supernatural, one of the cult tv series of the 21st century. Supernatural, although quite a celebrated show for what it is in many regards (and it is a good show), is primarily watched by teenage girls and young women. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but that's just the way it is. Women aged 18-34 are the CW's biggest demographic and there's nothing wrong with that. The obvious appeal to such an audience is the attractiveness of the two leads, Jared Padledecki and Jensen Ackles. Those two guys are highly regarded on the scales of good-looks, charm, muscles, badassery, and a whole load of other things. Good for them. And so, when Misha Collins was added to the mix (another arguebly attractive fellow), the fandom went crazy. Hopefully theories about the three leading males being gay together and subsequent fanction about said theories were a dime a dozen on the internet. You literally cannot go on a website like Tumblr or Reddit and not be bombarded by the Supernatural fandom shoving photos, videos and ramblings down your face. And from what I've seen, Misha Collins probably ranks the highest amongst the fans. Collins hasn't done a whole lot since Supernatural, other than a couple of tv appearances, but he's returning for a starring role on the show this season (he was only recurring for the past 2 seasons), so expect to see his face everywhere, all the time on the internet.
