10 Actors Who Became Cult Heroes From 1 TV Role

6. Michael C. Hall - Dexter

DexterThe Role That Made Him A Cult Hero: Playing your friendly neighbourhood serial killer, Dexter Morgan in Dexter. Fan-Favourite Quote: 'Blood. Sometimes, it sets my teeth on edge. Other times, it helps me control the chaos.' Michael C. Hall was primarily known for playing David Fischer on HBO's Six Feet Under for 5 seasons in the early 2000's. A deserving celebrated performance among many. But it was performing as the titular character in Showtime's devilishly evil drama Dexter in 2006 that he really gained brownie points among the more hardcore side of fanbases. Dexter Morgan is a truly inspired character and certainly one of the most original and fascinating ones on television in recent years. The idea of a "good" serial killer who only kills other murderers is a concept as genius as it is dark. And so the character required both these things. Ingenuity and darkness. And with the right amount of charm just to keep up appearances in front of everyone else. Michael C. Hall brought all this and more, and it's obvious to see why he has established such a cult following for his role. Hall has done several films in the last few years and with Dexter ending in only a month's time, another starring tv role beckons, surely. Safe to say wherever he goes next, he'll have his groupies going with him.
