10 Actors Who Have Been On Both Star Trek And Stargate
5. John De Lancie
John de Lancie's role as Q on three different Star Trek shows is legendary, but he also played the troublesome Colonel Frank Simmons on Stargate SG-1. As Q, he modelled himself as halfway between the angel and the devil that sit on Captain Picard's shoulders, while also finding time to get punched in the face by Captain Sisko and have Captain Janeway solve his people's civil war. His irascible god-hood is one of the more memorable factors of the Star Trek franchise and we're all looking forward to seeing if he makes some kind of return in Star Trek Picard.
In Stargate SG-1, he first cropped up in the fifth season, having replaced Harry Maybourne as the liaison officer between the SGC and the NID. He was up to no good from the very get-go, however, attempting to undermine the SGC's leadership and harming the members of SG-1 for his own ends. He manages to take a Goa'uld prisoner on Earth, using it as a source of information before he is eventually exposed as a traitor to the organisation and attempting an escape.
John de Lancie sold both roles with aplomb, as he did with his roles on Torchwood and Breaking Bad. He is also pretty well known for his voice work (returning as Q's voice for Star Trek Lower Decks), most notably as Discord... in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Excellent.
